Late Chaman Arora Honored with Sahitya Akademi Award 2024 for Dogri Short Story Collection “Ik Hor Ashwthama”

New Delhi, Feb 4: The Sahitya Akademi has announced the prestigious Sahitya Akademi Award 2024 in Dogri for the acclaimed short story collection Ik Hor Ashwthama, authored by Late Chaman Arora. The decision was officially approved by Sri Madhav Kaushik, President, Sahitya Akademi, following the unanimous recommendation of a three-member jury Dr. Sushma Rani, Dr. Veena Gupta and  Dr. Jitendra Udhampuri

The selection process adhered to the established rules and procedures of the Akademi, with the jury recognizing Arora’s literary excellence and contribution to Dogri literature. The award, which includes a casket containing an engraved copper plaque and a cash prize of ₹1,00,000, will be formally presented to a family member or nominee of the late author at a special ceremony on March 8, 2025, in New Delhi.

This recognition highlights Chaman Arora’s significant impact on Dogri literature, ensuring his legacy continues to inspire generations of readers and writers.
