Leaders of Sweden, Finland and UK Arrive in Delhi for AI Impact Summit
High-Level Participation Marks Fourth Global AI Summit Series
UK, Feb 18 : Senior leaders from Sweden, Finland and the United Kingdom have arrived in New Delhi to participate in the AI Impact Summit 2026, underscoring growing international collaboration on artificial intelligence governance and innovation.
Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo and Swedish Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Energy, Business and Industry Ebba Busch landed in the Capital early Wednesday. UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy, attending in a senior government capacity, reached Delhi late Tuesday.
Welcoming the visiting dignitaries, India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) highlighted the depth of bilateral cooperation. In a post on X, the MEA noted that India-Sweden relations span trade, innovation, climate action, education and economic partnerships. It also stated that the Finnish Prime Minister’s visit is expected to strengthen engagement in digital technology, sustainability and education.
Regarding the British delegation, the MEA said the visit would reinforce the India-UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, with particular emphasis on responsible and inclusive AI as a driver of economic growth and innovation.
The five day AI Impact Summit brings together representatives from over 110 countries and around 30 international organisations. The event includes participation at the level of Heads of State and Government from nearly 20 nations, along with about 45 ministerial delegates.
The summit aims to explore the transformative potential of artificial intelligence while aligning with India’s broader vision of inclusive technological progress under the principle of “AI for Humanity.” It follows earlier editions held at Bletchley Park in the United Kingdom in 2023, South Korea in 2024 and France in 2025.
More global leaders are expected to arrive later as discussions on AI governance, innovation frameworks and ethical standards continue.
