Literary luminaries unite to honor ‘Raj Kumar of Dogri Lyrics’ Yash Sharma

Rashtriya Kavi Sangam & Gayatri Parivar pay poetic tribute to Dogri icon Yash Sharma

Jammu, 09-02-2025: A grand Kavi Sammelan was organized today by Rashtriya Kavi Sangam (RKS) J&K in association with Gayatri Parivar, Loharakote, Sunderbani (Rajouri) to commemorate the birth anniversary of the legendary Dogri lyricist Yash Sharma, fondly remembered as the ‘Raj Kumar of Dogri Lyrics.’ The event witnessed a gathering of eminent poets, artists, and literary enthusiasts, all coming together to pay tribute to the profound contributions of Yash Sharma to Dogri literature and music. Senior artist, writer, and journalist Jang S Verman, along with retired ZEO Madan Mohan Sharma, graced the occasion as chief guests, while Arun Bhattacharaya from IIMA Jammu and retired banker Ashok Kumar attended as guests of honor. The program was presided over by Squadron Leader Anil Saigal, with renowned singer Seema Anil Saigal and Kartikey Saigal sharing the dais, adding a melodic touch to the literary celebration.

Welcoming the guests, RKS J&K president Kewal Kumar Kewal emphasized the organization’s commitment to keeping Yash Sharma’s legacy alive by conducting various literary events in his honor. He reiterated RKS J&K’s mission to promote local talent by providing platforms across different regions, ensuring that Dogri poetry and literature continue to thrive. Representing Gayatri Parivar, Sanjay Sharma highlighted the organization’s dedication to preserving cultural values and promoting value-based literary programs. The evening unfolded with an enthralling poetic recitation by renowned poets, including Vinod Kumar Sharma, Shruti Sharma, Sanjay Kumar Sharma, Ritika, Dharampal Sharma, Mohinder Pal, Kasturi Lal, O P Bhajwalia, Amarjeet Sharma, Dr. Aradhana Sharma, Dr. Anjana, Rajneesh Sharma, Rattan Bhardwaj, O P Shakir, Sandeep Singh Jamwal, Jang S Verman, Seema Anil Saigal, and Kewal Kumar Kewal.

In his presidential address, Anil Saigal lauded the efforts of RKS J&K and Gayatri Parivar in honoring the great literary stalwarts and fostering an environment where art and culture flourish. Expressing their views, Jang S Verman, Seema Anil Saigal, Arun Bhattacharya, Madan Mohan, and Ashok Kumar echoed similar sentiments, acknowledging the enduring impact of Yash Sharma’s poetic brilliance. The event was skillfully anchored by Sandeep Singh Jamwal, general secretary of RKS J&K, ensuring a seamless flow of proceedings. The program concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks extended by O P Sharma, marking the end of a memorable tribute to one of Dogri literature’s most celebrated figures.
