It claimed that 56 facilities produce beer with permission from the Indian government.
The ministry reports that during 2020–21, India exported 2.47 lakh metric tonnes of alcoholic products to the world for a total of USD 322.12 million. In 2020–21, the United Arab Emirates, Ghana, Singapore, Congo, and Cameroon were India’s top export markets for alcohol.
With more than 35 wineries in the state, Maharashtra has grown to be a significant wine-producing state. In Maharashtra, grapes are grown on about 1,500 acres for wine production. The state government has designated the wine industry as a small industry and provided excise incentives in an effort to encourage wine production.
The Indian wine sector has experienced the fastest growth among the nation’s alcoholic beverage industries from 2010 to 2017, expanding at a compound annual growth rate of 14%. According to the ministry, APEDA has since held a number of workshops and wine tasting events at numerous international trade shows to raise awareness of the potential of Indian wines.
