Mahant Satyendra Das: A Life Devoted to Shri Ram Lalla Ends in Eternal Rest

Ayodhya Ram Temple Head Priest Passes Away

Lucknow, Feb 12: The spiritual beacon of Ayodhya, Mahant Satyendra Das, the revered chief priest of the Ram Janmabhoomi temple, has merged with the divine at the age of 85. His passing, which occurred at Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI), marks the end of an era of unwavering devotion and service to Shri Ram.

Admitted earlier this month after suffering a brain stroke, Mahant Satyendra Das fought bravely against his ailments before attaining eternal rest. “He was admitted in the HDU (High Dependency Unit) of the neurology ward on February 3 in critical condition and breathed his last today,” confirmed the hospital.

For over six decades, Mahant Satyendra Das carried out the sacred duties of the Ram Janmabhoomi temple with unshaken faith. His journey as the chief priest began in his early twenties, a role he shouldered through historic and tumultuous times. He remained steadfast in his service when the Babri structure was brought down on December 6, 1992, and later continued his worship under a makeshift tent, ensuring the divine presence of Shri Ram Lalla never wavered in the hearts of millions.

Hailing from the Nirvani Akhara, he was not just a spiritual leader but also a guiding force in the Ayodhya movement. His wisdom and humility made him a bridge between devotees, saints, and the media, ensuring the world remained informed about the spiritual and historical significance of Ayodhya.

Condoling his passing, Vishva Hindu Parishad’s Ayodhya-based spokesman, Sharad Sharma, remarked, “He was a widely respected figure, a living embodiment of Ayodhya’s history, and a guardian of its sacred traditions. His demise is an irreplaceable loss to the spiritual world.”

As chants of Shri Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram fill the air in Ayodhya, devotees bid farewell to a soul who lived and breathed the service of Shri Ram. Though his physical presence is no more, his legacy of unwavering faith, devotion, and commitment to dharma will continue to inspire generations to come.
