Mahashivratri celebrated with religious fervor at Brahma Kumari Ishwariya Vidyalaya, Basohli

Festivals strengthen brotherhood, communal harmony of J&K: Col Mahan

BASOHLI/KATHUA: Om Shanti Brahma Kumari Ishwaria Vidhyalaya, Centre Basohli, today celebrated Mahashivratri Utsav with cultural fervour and devotion.

On the occasion, Col Mahan Singh, DDC Chairman Kathua was the Chief Guest. The function commenced with a religious sermon by Bahen Kamlesh Kumari, Incharge Ishwaria Centre Basohli highlighting the values of “Sanatan” and Hindu way of livings.

School children of neighbouring villages gave thrilling cultural performance on the occasion. A “Sankalp” on disciplined living, devotion to God & selfless service to mankind was administered to the participants. While, the Organizational Flag was hoisted infront of Shiva Pratima in the compound of the Centre by the DDC Chairman amid chanting of Vedic Mantras and slogans like “Bham Bham Bholenath” & “Om Shanti.

A cake cutting ceremony and community langar prepared by Sevaks of Santhan was served to all the devotees during the event.

Speaking on the occasion, Col Mahan greeted the people of the district Kathua on the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivratri. He said that the celebration of this festival is a valuable part of our glorious cultural heritage symbolizing the values of piety, devotion and brotherhood. He expressed the hope that the celebrations of this auspicious occasion would further strengthen the communal harmony of J&K and also prayed for tranquillity and prosperity in the UT and well being of the people.

The DDC Chairman appreciated the devotion and service of the Sevaks to serve the people of remote areas of Kathua.

Later the Sevaks and devotees led by Behan Kamlesh Kumari went around in Basohli Town and Ghagrore, Plakh, Plassi, Pretha, Plahi  Panchayats in the form of a procession spreading messages of peace and brotherhood around the area. Besides Col Mahan Singh, a large number of prominent personalities to name Capt Des Raj, Hem Raj, Daljeet Singh and Darshna Devi were present.
