Modi Govt committed to double farmers income: Col Mahan

MARTA NAGROTA (Kathua): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led Government at the Centre is fully committed to double the income of farmers across the country. There is no dearth of funds and the Central Government will take all the measures necessary to enhance their produce and income.

This was stated by Col Mahan Singh, DDC Chairman Kathua while speaking at the meeting held at Nagrota Pretha in district Kathua.

People of Kharmait, Meyali, Khabli, Nakki, Naraali and Jugar areas were present in large number and raised several issues related to their respective areas. The issues which were raised during the meeting include road connectivity to isolated villages, scarcity of drinking water, erratic power cuts and low voltage, building for GPS Nakki, new hand pumps installation and so on. Capt Des Raj, Capt Harnam Singh, Capt Nek Ram, Ajeet Singh Naib Sarpanch Pretha, Gian Chand, Kishori Lal and others were present in the meeting.

The DDC Chairman listened to the problems being raised by the participants carefully and assured that their issues would be resolved at the earliest by taking up with the authorities concerned. He also highlighted various projects/works completed and sanctioned in the region including JJM projects, NABARD/PMGSY roads, upcoming KVK, improvement of Mahanpur-Basohli road, New NHs sanction in the region. He asserted that the Modi led BJP Government at the Centre is committed for the cause of the people.

The DDC Chairman, while reiterating the Union Government’s commitment to double farmers’ income, asserted that it is the joint and synchronized efforts of J&K UT and Central governments that will go a long way in raising the living standards of Nation’s food producers to optimum by doubling their income in consonance with the mission visualized by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the nation’s farmers.

The DDC Chairman urged the people of the area to use modern implements, adopt latest farming technology besides making use of hybrid seeds only for increasing the productivity of their crops. He emphasized that the Union Government led by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched multiple schemes to benefit all sections of the society and the farmers must come forward to avail the benefits of the schemes specially tailored for farmers.
