Modi Warns Against Weaponisation of Technology at BRICS Summit
Prime Minister calls for responsible access to emerging technologies and stronger international cooperation on critical resources.
NEW DELHI, Sep 14: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has cautioned against the weaponisation of technology and critical minerals, calling for greater international cooperation to ensure that emerging technologies benefit all countries.
Addressing the BRICS Summit in New Delhi on Sunday, Modi said geopolitical tensions and competition over critical resources could create disruptions in global technology and supply chains.
He stressed the importance of making technological progress more inclusive and urged countries to work together on areas such as artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure and critical minerals.
Modi also proposed a BRICS Startup Innovation Fund to support technology driven solutions and called for stronger cooperation in developing resilient supply chains.
The Prime Minister highlighted the need for responsible technological development, particularly as artificial intelligence and other advanced technologies increasingly influence economies, industries and national security.
He also advocated the creation of a BRICS Network on Digital Agriculture, using AI, geospatial technologies and digital infrastructure to address challenges faced by farmers.
