Mohammed Siraj’s ‘Pani Pilana, Bat Uthana’ Remark on His and Kuldeep Yadav’s Role in T20 World Cup Win Goes Viral

Indian pacer shares a humorous take on his limited role in the tournament while praising the team-first approach behind the title victory.

New Delhi: India’s celebrations after lifting the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 title produced many memorable moments, but a lighthearted comment from Mohammed Siraj quickly caught the attention of fans.

During a post match interaction with broadcasters, the Indian pacer delivered a witty response when asked about his feelings following the historic triumph. Known for his playful personality, Siraj joked about his contribution while standing beside teammate Kuldeep Yadav, leaving those around him in splits.

India secured their third T20 World Cup crown, adding to their earlier victories in ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2007 under MS Dhoni and ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 under Rohit Sharma. The latest title came with Suryakumar Yadav leading the side.

When asked to sum up the journey, Siraj credited the collective effort of the squad. He said it felt like a “script written by God,” noting that he had not initially been part of the playing group before receiving a late call up and eventually becoming part of the championship winning squad.

The conversation then turned to the challenge of staying out of the playing XI. Responding in his trademark humorous style, Siraj said his and Kuldeep’s “big role” was to sit outside, serve water to teammates and hold their bats, prompting laughter from Kuldeep.

In the tournament, Siraj played only one match   against the United States national cricket team  where he returned figures of three wickets for 29 runs. However, he did not feature in the remaining fixtures.

Kuldeep also had limited on field opportunities, appearing only once against the Pakistan national cricket team, where he claimed a wicket.

Despite the restricted game time, Siraj emphasised that the squad maintained a positive atmosphere. He said players always want to be part of the playing XI, but decisions are made according to team combination and what benefits the side the most.

According to the pacer, the entire group supported the management’s decisions and focused on contributing through net sessions and maintaining a strong dressing room environment, highlighting that the team’s success always takes priority over individual ambitions.
