MP Sh. Ghulam Ali Khatana’s Productive Dialogue with CCI on Trade, Industry, and Community Concerns

Jammu, 20-08-2023: Sh. Ghulam Ali Khatana, Hon’ble MP Rajya Sabha today visited the Chamber House and interacted with Office Bearers, Sr. Members of CCI and representatives of different market associations present on the occasion.

Sh. Arun Gupta, President CCI welcomed Sh. Ghulam Ali Khatana Sahib and during discussions highlighted various issues pertaining to Trade, Industry and the general public of Jammu which include stoppage of the installation of smart meters immediately, Toll Tax being charged at Thandi Khoi by NHAI be kept in abeyance till the construction of expressway corridor and the damaged bridge at Tarnah Nallah(Chadwal)  is made operational, GST linked incentive be made available to the existing Industries also for their survival and in the era of cut-throat competition, Mother Industries like Rail Coach Factory and Defence Equipment manufacturing Factory be established in Jammu in order to generate employment opportunities for the youth of our UT, Freight Subsidy be provided upto National Capital to save the existing Industry, Issues relating to GST Refund and Interest Subsidy, The concessions being provided to the new Industrial Units is also extended to the existing Industrial Unit for their survival.

Sh. Arun Gupta also said that there are many Industrialists who want to establish their units on the land which comes under the purview of Khad Land. There is a need to redefine the “Kism” of this type of land and also a Policy should be formulated to allow the commercial and construction activities on those lands, so that the dream of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India that maximum investment should come in our UT.

Sh. Arun Gupta further apprised him that the Govt. have fixed Circle Rates at very exaggerated rates while the actual prevalent rates are much low. Whereas Govt. is encouraging entrepreneurs to establish their own industrial estates but such an exaggerated circle rate is becoming a big hurdle in this process. The work on beautification of Jammu City Lake and Bank of River Tawi needs to be expedited, Promotion of Tourism in Jammu Region.

Sh. Arun Gupta also pointed out that at present only one train is running  between Jammu-Haridwar on daily basis. Although a new train has been started but it is running for twice a week. The people of Jammu are travelling to Haridwar frequently to perform religious rituals but due to the non-availability of this second train throughout the week they are facing lot of inconvenience, we demand that this train should be operated regularly on daily basis, Presently There is urgent need to introduce a new super-fast train from the State of Rajasthan especially Jaipur for the  facilitation of Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrims.

While reacting Mr. Khatana said that he has already talked to the PDD regarding excess billing and he hoped the necessary and   favourable order shall be issued very soon.  Regarding Toll Plaza he said that he will take up the said matter with the NHAI to resolve the issue at the earliest. Regarding other issues raised in today’s meeting  he said that he will  definitely take up these issues   with the concerned higher authorities for their redressal at the earliest.
