Mukesh Ambani Tops Asia’s Richest Person List and Ranks 9th in Forbes World’s Billionaires List 2023

05-04-2023 : Mukesh Ambani, the billionaire Chairman of Reliance Industries, has regained his title as Asia’s richest person according to the Forbes Billionaire 2023 list. He also holds the title of the world’s wealthiest sports owner, having outscored Steve Ballmer on the list of the 20 richest sports owners in the world.

Forbes’ survey, released on April 4, reveals that the top 20 richest sports owners are worth a combined $509 billion, with Mukesh Ambani at the top of the list with a net worth of $83.4 billion as of March 10, 2023.

Ambani’s net worth is noteworthy, considering that shares of his company, Reliance Industries Limited, fell by 3% in the past year. Despite this, Ambani was still able to maintain his position as the world’s richest sports owner. On the other hand, Ballmer, the former CEO of Microsoft, saw a 13% drop in his net worth due to a similar drop in the company’s stock value.

Aside from owning the Mumbai Indians cricket franchise, Ambani’s Reliance Industries recently acquired a team in the first Women’s Premier League, in addition to cricket franchises in South Africa and the United Arab Emirates.

Mukesh Ambani is the world’s wealthiest sports owner, topping the Forbes Billionaire 2023 list as Asia’s richest person, with a net worth of $83.4 billion. Despite a 3% drop in the company’s stock value, Ambani’s position as the world’s richest sports owner was unaffected, while Ballmer saw a 13% decline in his net worth, placing him second on the list. Reliance Industries has also recently purchased a team in the first Women’s Premier League, expanding Ambani’s ownership in the sports industry.
