“My Appointment Is Due to Lord Ram’s Blessings,” Says First CEO of Ram Temple Trust
Retired Air Marshal says he feels privileged to serve Lord Ram and devotees after a career dedicated to national service.
AYODHYA (UP), Sep 3: Retired Air Marshal Jeetendra Mishra arrived in Ayodhya on Thursday to assume his new role as the first Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, saying he considers the opportunity a great privilege after decades of serving the nation.
Mishra, who led the Western Air Command during Operation Sindoor, was appointed the first CEO of the trust on Wednesday. The organisation is responsible for overseeing the management and operations of the Ram temple.
Speaking to reporters after reaching Ayodhya, the 62-year-old former Air Force officer said his immediate priority would be to formally take charge, understand the organisation’s functioning and assess the responsibilities associated with his new position.
“I have reached Ayodhya for the first time after being given this new responsibility. Let me go, take over and understand everything. All the planning will be told to you after that,” Mishra said.
He expressed gratitude to the selection committee and the temple trust for entrusting him with the responsibility, describing his appointment as a blessing from Lord Ram.
Mishra said he felt fortunate to have received two significant opportunities to serve. His first responsibility was in national service through the Indian Air Force, while his latest assignment involves managing the administration of the temple and serving its devotees.
The retired Air Marshal stepped down as head of the Western Air Command on April 30, 2026. His appointment followed a selection process that attracted 5,585 applications, with the final choice being made from a shortlist of three candidates.
Mishra also said his familiarity with eastern Uttar Pradesh would help him understand the region and its ongoing development. Hailing from Deoria district, he said he has frequently travelled to Gorakhpur and Varanasi.
Referring to the development taking place across the region, he said Kashi, Uttar Pradesh and the country were progressing, with Ayodhya witnessing similar growth.
The appointment comes as the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust strengthens its administrative structure. The move follows a controversy involving alleged misappropriation of temple donations, in connection with which eight people were arrested and Champat Rai resigned as the trust’s general secretary.
