NEET UG 2026 Round 1 Seat Allotment Result Set for Release as Medical Admissions Advance
Candidates allotted MBBS and other medical seats will begin the reporting process from August 20 as the first phase of counselling moves towards completion.
NEW DELHI, Aug 19: The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) is set to announce the Round 1 seat allotment result for NEET UG 2026, marking a crucial stage in the admission process for aspiring medical students across the country.
The first phase of counselling has attracted significant attention from candidates seeking admission to MBBS, BDS and other undergraduate medical programmes. Candidates who receive seats in the initial allocation will be required to follow the prescribed reporting and admission procedures.
The counselling process began with registration and choice filling earlier this month. Candidates were required to select their preferred medical colleges and courses within the specified deadline before the choices were processed for seat allocation.
Following the Round 1 allotment, successful candidates will have to report to their allotted institutions from August 20, according to the counselling schedule. They will need to complete document verification and other admission formalities within the stipulated period.
The allocation is based on several factors, including candidates’ NEET UG ranks, category, choices submitted during counselling and availability of seats in participating institutions.
Students who are dissatisfied with their initial allocation may have options under subsequent counselling rules, subject to the conditions prescribed by MCC. Candidates are therefore advised to carefully read the instructions accompanying the allotment result before deciding their next step.
The first round is particularly important because it determines the initial distribution of seats across participating medical institutions. Candidates who do not secure their preferred college may continue through later rounds depending on eligibility and seat availability.
The counselling exercise is being closely followed by thousands of medical aspirants and their families as they work towards securing admission for the 2026-27 academic session.
Candidates are advised to rely on official MCC notifications for reporting dates, document requirements and further rounds rather than relying on unofficial social media updates.
The completion of the first round will pave the way for subsequent stages of undergraduate medical admissions, bringing students closer to the start of their professional medical education.
