Omar Abdullah Questions Logic Behind ‘Unjust’ US-Israel War on Iran

J&K CM raises concerns over ceasefire impact, calls war “unjust” amid Strait of Hormuz reopening

JAMMU, Apr 8: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has raised serious questions over the purpose and outcome of the recent conflict involving the United States and Israel against Iran, describing it as an “unjust war” with little tangible benefit.

Reacting to developments following the ceasefire, Abdullah pointed out that the Strait of Hormuz an essential global shipping route has now been reopened, despite being accessible before the hostilities began. He questioned the necessity of the prolonged conflict, stating that the reopening of an already operational passage highlights the lack of clear achievements from the 39-day war.

Taking to his personal X account, the Chief Minister remarked that the situation prompts a larger question about what the United States ultimately gained from the confrontation, emphasizing his concern over the human and geopolitical costs involved.

Meanwhile, diplomatic efforts appear to be underway to ease tensions. The United States and Iran have reportedly agreed to a ceasefire facilitated by Pakistan. Delegations from both countries are expected to meet in Islamabad on Friday, marking their first direct diplomatic engagement since early March.
