Opposition Parties To Hold Peaceful Protest In Jammu On Oct 10: Farooq Abdullah

Jammu, October 3: Leaders from several opposition parties convened in a significant gathering chaired by National Conference president Farooq Abdullah. During this meeting, they collectively decided to organize a peaceful protest against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Jammu, scheduled for the upcoming week.

The primary concern voiced during this gathering was the perceived suspension of the constitution and the perceived threat to the democratic rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Farooq Abdullah, the chairman of the meeting, addressed reporters after the extensive two-hour discussion, expressing these concerns and outlining the plan for the peaceful protest.

Among the prominent attendees at the meeting were Mehbooba Mufti, president of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), along with her party’s general secretary, Amreek Singh Reen. Additionally, the meeting saw the participation of Vikar Rasool Wani, the president of Jammu and Kashmir Congress, and its working president, Raman Bhalla. Leaders from other political groups included M Y Tarigami from the Communist Party of India (Marxist), Gulchain Singh Charak from Dogra Sadar Sabha, and Manish Sahni, the president of Jammu and Kashmir Shiv Sena (United Bhartiya Team).

The gathering also featured prominent figures like Muzaffar Shah, Senior Vice President of the Awami National Conference, and Rattan Lal Gupta, the National Conference provincial president in Jammu. Hasnain Masoodi, a Member of Parliament from the National Conference, Sunil Dimple from Mission Statehood, and former MP Sheikh Abdul Rehman also lent their presence and perspectives to the discussions.

In addition to the leaders from these major parties, representatives from various other political entities were in attendance. This inclusive gathering included members from the Communist Party of India (CPI), Akali Dal (Amritsar), and the Internationalist Democratic Party, underlining the collaborative nature of the opposition’s deliberations.
