42nd Junior National Tennikoit Championship Thrills Jammu on Third Day
Jammu, Nov 28: The 42nd Junior (Boys & Girls) National Tennikoit Championship, a five-day sporting extravaganza, entered its third day today at Green Field, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. The championship is organized by the J&K Tennikoit Association under the auspices of the Tennikoit Federation of India (TKFI) in collaboration with the J&K Sports Council.
Sh. Gaurav Gupta, Spokesperson of BJP J&K UT and Secretary of Jammu Club, Jammu, graced the event as Chief Guest, while Ms. Jewel Versa, Chairperson of TKFI, was the Guest of Honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest Gaurav Gupta lauded the organizers for hosting a National Championship in Jammu and engaging the youth in sports, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision under the PM Sports Package. He also appreciated the efforts of Sh. Rajeev Sharma, President of TKFI and JKTA, for ensuring the smooth and successful conduct of the championship.
Guest of Honour, Ms. Jewel Versa, Chairperson of TKFI, praised the organizers, particularly Sh. Rajeev Sharma, President of TKFI and JKTA, for providing excellent arrangements and boarding and lodging facilities for participants and officials coming from across the country.
The day witnessed thrilling quarter-final and semi-final matches, with impressive performances from teams across India. The results are as follows:
Quarter-Finals:
• Girls Doubles: Tamil Nadu defeated Telangana 3-0
• Mixed Doubles: Tamil Nadu defeated Jharkhand 2-0
• Mixed Doubles: Kerala defeated Maharashtra 2-0
• Mixed Doubles: Pondicherry defeated J&K 2-0
• Mixed Doubles: Andhra Pradesh defeated Karnataka 2-1
• Mixed Doubles: Karnataka defeated Maharashtra 3-1
Semi-Finals:
• Mixed Doubles: Kerala defeated Tamil Nadu 2-0
• Mixed Doubles: Andhra Pradesh defeated Pondicherry 2-0
• Boys Team Championship: Tamil Nadu defeated Pondicherry 3-0
• Boys Team Championship: Maharashtra defeated Karnataka 3-1
• Girls Team Championship: Pondicherry defeated Kerala 3-2
The matches were conducted by the technical panel of the Tennikoit Federation of India, supervised by Chairman of Technical Committee K.N.V. Satyanarayan (AP) and Convener D. Shankar (TN).
The championship continues for two more days, promising more competitive matches and showcasing young sporting talent from across the country.
