PM Modi Expresses Eagerness to Speak With Donald Trump

PM Modi Welcomes Trump’s Positive Trade Remarks, Looks Forward to Talks

New Delhi, Sep 10: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday welcomed US President Donald Trump’s optimistic remarks on ongoing trade negotiations, expressing confidence that the talks will help unlock the “limitless potential” of the India-US partnership.

Calling India and the US “close friends and natural partners,” Modi said on X that both nations are working to conclude the trade discussions at the earliest. “I am also looking forward to speaking with President Trump. We will work together to secure a brighter, more prosperous future for both our people,” he added.

His comments came hours after Trump stated he was confident there would be “no difficulty” in reaching a successful conclusion to the trade talks and said he looks forward to speaking with his “very good friend” Modi soon.

Relations between the two countries had strained in recent weeks following Trump’s decision to impose a 50% tariff on India. However, the recent exchange of positive statements from both leaders signals a thaw in ties. This is the second time in recent weeks that Trump has praised bilateral relations, coupled with his appreciation of Modi’s leadership.
