PM Modi Highlights India-Ethiopia Partnership for Regional Peace, Security, and Connectivity

PM Modi addresses Ethiopian Parliament, emphasizing strategic ties, shared development goals, and collaborative regional efforts

Addis Ababa, Dec 17: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday described India and Ethiopia as “natural partners” in promoting regional peace, security, and connectivity during his address to a joint session of the Ethiopian Parliament.

On his maiden bilateral visit to Ethiopia, Modi highlighted the strategic positions of the two nations, noting, “Ethiopia sits at a crossroads of Africa. India stands at the heart of the Indian Ocean. We are natural partners in regional peace, security, and connectivity.”

The Prime Minister emphasized that as developing countries, India and Ethiopia have much to learn from and contribute to each other, fostering mutual growth and cooperation. He also spoke of the cultural and climatic warmth shared by the two nations.

Modi’s address, marking the 18th parliament globally that he has spoken to, concluded with a standing ovation from the members of the Ethiopian Parliament.

Currently on a four-day, three-nation tour, Modi arrived in Ethiopia on Tuesday from Jordan and is scheduled to depart for Oman following his engagements here.
