Post-Delhi Blast Alert: Jammu Railway Station Undergoes Intensive Security Sweep

RPF, GRP Conduct Joint Operation; Passenger Areas Thoroughly Checked in Jammu

Jammu, Nov 13: Security arrangements at the Jammu railway station were intensified on Thursday as the Northern Railway conducted a special security drive in response to heightened alert levels across the country. The move follows the tragic blast near Delhi’s Red Fort earlier this week, where an explosive-laden car claimed 13 lives, prompting security agencies to ramp up vigilance in sensitive zones.

Senior Divisional Commercial Manager of the Jammu Division, Uchit Singhal, said such enhanced security drives are carried out regularly across major stations under the Northern Railway to ensure the safety of passengers. In view of recent events, the latest operation was conducted with additional focus and coordination.

The special drive involved a joint effort by the Railway Protection Force, Government Railway Police, the dog squad, and officials from the commercial department. Teams carried out a thorough sweep of the railway station and surrounding premises, checking every area accessible to passengers and staff.

Officials inspected platforms, passenger luggage, waiting halls, reservation counters, ticket booking areas, and the parcel office with the help of metal detectors and trained sniffer dogs. Trains arriving at and departing from the station were also checked as part of the coordinated operation.

Singhal said passengers were informed about important safety guidelines throughout the drive, with announcements urging them to remain alert and report anything unusual. The operation, he added, was conducted in a way that ensured regular rail movement remained smooth and passengers did not face disruptions.

Railway staff have been instructed to maintain heightened awareness while on duty. Passengers have been urged not to touch any suspicious object and to immediately inform security personnel or use the railway emergency helplines 139 and 182 if they notice anything concerning.

Officials said such intensified operations are part of the railway’s proactive strategy to strengthen passenger safety, particularly at major transport hubs, and to reassure the public during periods of heightened security concerns.
