Press Tour: J&K Media Delegation Engages with Telangana Governor on Governance and Development
J&K Journalists Exchange Governance Learnings with Telangana Governor during PIB-Sponsored Tour
Hyderabad, Oct 23: A media delegation from Jammu and Kashmir, consisting of twelve journalists from various leading newspapers, met with the Governor of Telangana, Jishnu Dev Varma, at Raj Bhavan today. The Press Information Bureau (PIB) organized a “Press Tour” that included the delegation in order to promote cross-state understanding of government policies and their practical implementation. The tour allows journalists from one state to learn from the best practices in governance and development initiatives in another.
Governor Jishnu Dev Varma gave a warm welcome to the delegation, which included Shruti Patil, Additional Director General of PIB Hyderabad, and Tariq Rather, Deputy Director of PIB Srinagar. Speaking at the event, the governor emphasized the importance of sharing governance best practices across states to strengthen democracy. “Telangana, with its rich culture, heritage, art, and crafts, offers valuable insights into successful industrialization and development. Initiatives like this press tour are crucial for journalists to observe first-hand the policies and programs that are driving change. The exchange of ideas not only enhances understanding but also strengthens our democratic fabric,” he said.
The journalists, representing prominent media outlets such as Daily Excelsior, Asian Mail, Kashmir Monitor, Gadyal, Kashmir Observer, Brighter Kashmir, Dainik State Samachar and Udaan., will spend a week in Telangana. Their itinerary includes visits to national institutions like INCOIS, NIN, and NSTI, as well as interactions with beneficiaries of various government schemes to gain deeper insights into policy outcomes.
The PIB team supporting the delegation included Dr. Manas Krishnakanth, Deputy Director; V. Gayithri, M&CO; and IA Shivcharan Reddy.
