Rahul Gandhi Claims ‘Vote Theft’ Being Institutionalised
Congress leader claims electoral roll revision covers up large scale voter manipulation in multiple states
PACHMARHI (MP), Nov 9: Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, on Sunday alleged that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls is being used to cover up “vote theft” and institutionalise it.
Gandhi was in Pachmarhi, Narmadapuram, to participate in the Madhya Pradesh district Congress presidents’ training camp. Speaking to reporters, he said, “Vote theft is an issue, and SIR now is about covering it up and institutionalising the system.”
The Election Commission’s SIR commenced on November 4 across nine states and three Union territories. Gandhi claimed that similar voter manipulation that occurred in Haryana—where he alleged 25 lakh votes were stolen also took place in Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Chhattisgarh.
He further accused the ruling BJP and the Election Commission of forming a “joint partnership” to undermine democracy and attack the Constitution. Gandhi asserted that his party possesses additional evidence, which will be released gradually.
“My issue is that democracy is being attacked, Ambedkar’s Constitution is being attacked. Modi ji, Amit Shah ji, and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh ji are doing this directly, and because of this, the country is suffering a lot. Bharat Mata is being harmed,” Gandhi said.
The Congress leader also mentioned receiving positive feedback from participants at the district presidents’ training camp in Madhya Pradesh.
