Rahul Sahai Engages with DGP Nalin Prabhat on Thana Diwas, Highlights Policing & Public Safety Priorities
Jammu, 06-03-2025: Rahul Sahai, Chairman, Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC), Jammu Chapter, participated in an interaction with Shri Nalin Prabhat, IPS, Director General of Police, Jammu & Kashmir, during Thana Diwas at Model Police Station, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. He acknowledged the commendable efforts of J&K Police in maintaining law and order, particularly their success in busting recent theft and drug rackets, and appreciated the leadership of the DGP in ensuring security across the region.
During the meeting, Sahai put forth several key suggestions aimed at enhancing policing and public safety. He proposed the establishment of a dedicated public grievance redressal and feedback system, including an online complaint portal and official email IDs to streamline communication between citizens and law enforcement. He also suggested that SHOs conduct regular meetings in different localities to strengthen police-public relations and gather real-time feedback. Furthermore, he recommended holding bi-monthly district-level meetings with representatives from the industry, trade, and civil society to address security concerns and promote collaboration.
Stressing the importance of surveillance, Sahai urged citizens to install CCTV cameras at their residential and commercial properties to help deter crime and support police investigations. To improve efficiency in administrative processes, he advocated for the creation of a separate verification department for passport and other document verifications, enabling police officers to focus on core law enforcement duties.
As part of ICC Jammu’s initiatives, Sahai proposed organizing an orientation program on new criminal laws to educate industry members, trade professionals, and civil society on recent legal developments. Additionally, he suggested hosting a special felicitation event similar to ‘Umang’ to honor J&K Police personnel for their exemplary service, with a request to invite the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor as the Chief Guest.
Reaffirming the commitment of ICC Jammu to supporting the police in their efforts for public safety and industrial security, Sahai emphasized the need for greater coordination between law enforcement agencies, businesses, and the community to ensure a safer and more crime-free Jammu.
