Rajeshwari Sharma to Head POSH Committee of J&K AKA

Jammu,26-08-2026 : General Secretary Dr. Kuldeep Kumar Gupta J&K Amateur Kabaddi Association has appointed Ms. Rajeshwari Sharma as the Chairperson of its POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) Committee, marking an important step towards strengthening a safe, respectful and inclusive environment within the sport.

Ms. Sharma is a former kabaddi player and holds an MBA degree. Her experience of the sporting environment, combined with her academic and professional background, is expected to contribute meaningfully to the effective functioning of the committee and to strengthening athlete welfare and safe-sport practices.

The POSH Committee has been constituted with Ms. Rajeshwari Sharma as Chairperson, along with four appointed members Namely Mrs. Bandana Sharma Lecturer Physical Education, Mrs. Radha Bakshi Retd. Physical Education Master, Ms. Mithali Mamhas Physical Education Teacher and Mrs. Neelam Sambyal Former Manager of the Bank. The committee will collectively work towards prevention, awareness and appropriate redressal of matters relating to sexual harassment within the Association.

The committee will promote awareness among athletes, coaches, officials, support staff and other stakeholders regarding workplace dignity, professional conduct and prevention of harassment. It will also provide an appropriate mechanism for addressing complaints and ensuring that matters brought before it are handled with confidentiality, sensitivity and due process.

Welcoming the constitution of the committee, the J&K Amateur Kabaddi Association stated that the initiative reflects its commitment to athlete welfare, safety, dignity and good governance. The Association emphasised that every player and member associated with kabaddi should be able to participate and work in an environment free from harassment, discrimination and intimidation.

As Chairperson, Rajeshwari Sharma will lead the committee in strengthening institutional safeguards, promoting awareness and fostering a professional and respectful sporting environment across the Association.

The J&K Amateur Kabaddi Association Dr. Kuldeep Kumar Gupta reiterated that the safety, dignity and well-being of its athletes and stakeholders remain among its foremost priorities and that it will continue to take appropriate measures to promote a professional, transparent and inclusive sporting environment.
