Rs 10 Crore Ransom Threat to B Praak Caller Alleges Bishnoi Gang Links, Mohali Police Investigating

A caller claiming association with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang demanded Rs 10 crore, warning serious harm to the Punjabi and Bollywood singer if unpaid.

Mohali Jan 17 :  Police have launched an investigation after Punjabi and Bollywood singer B Praak became the target of a Rs 10 crore ransom threat, allegedly linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

The complaint was filed by Punjabi singer Dilnoor, who said he received a suspicious call on January 5 from an overseas number. Dilnoor noticed two missed calls but did not respond. The following day, he received another call from a different international number. After briefly answering, he disconnected the call upon finding it suspicious.

Soon after, Dilnoor received a voice message allegedly carrying the threat. In the audio, the caller  identifying himself as Arju Bishnoi, a purported associate of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang demanded Rs 10 crore within a week and warned of serious harm to B Praak if the money was not paid. The caller also cautioned that the threat should not be taken lightly and claimed to be operating from outside India.

The complaint was submitted to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Mohali, on January 6. Authorities confirmed that an investigation is underway, with a focus on verifying the threat and identifying any gang links.

The case comes amid a string of extortion-related incidents attributed to the Bishnoi gang in recent months. Earlier this year, firing incidents were reported outside residences in Rohini, West Vihar, and East Delhi, often following threat calls. Delhi Police subsequently arrested suspects in two such cases following encounters. Investigators are now examining whether the Mohali threat follows a similar pattern.

B Praak, known for chart topping hits such as Pachtaoge, Filhall, Teri Mitti, and Ranjha, remains one of the most recognisable names in Punjabi and Hindi music. Police are assessing the level of threat and possible connections as the probe continues.
