Sand Art Maestro Sudarsan Pattnaik Dedicates Special Creation to Amitabh Bachchan on His 83rd Birthday

Padma Shri awardee transforms Puri beach into a striking sculpture celebrating Big B’s cinematic legacy

Mumbai, Oct 11 : Renowned sand artist and Padma Shri awardee Sudarsan Pattnaik dedicated a stunning sand art installation to Amitabh Bachchan on the megastar’s 83rd birthday on Saturday.

Pattnaik transformed Puri beach in Odisha into a canvas, sculpting an image of Big B alongside a film reel featuring his iconic looks from Coolie, Laawaris, Sharaabi, Mard, and Faraar.

Sharing the artwork on X (formerly Twitter), Pattnaik wrote: “My special sand art installation painting, dedicated to @SrBachchan ji on his 83rd birthday  a heartfelt tribute to the Mahanayak of Indian Cinema. Honoring the legacy of a legend who continues to inspire generations.” #HappyBirthdayAmitabhBachchan

Known for his intricate craftsmanship and powerful visual storytelling, Pattnaik’s sand art attracts visitors from across India and abroad. He was honoured with the Padma Shri in 2014 for his exceptional contributions to seashore sand art.

Amitabh Bachchan, who has acted in over 200 films, rose to prominence with classics like Anand, Zanjeer, and Roti Kapada Aur Makaan. His early blockbusters include Deewaar, Sholay, Kabhi Kabhie, Amar Akbar Anthony, Don, Trishul, Muqaddar Ka Sikandar, Naseeb, Coolie, Laawaris, Silsila, Kaalia, and Mard. He also delivered acclaimed performances in Namak Haraam, Abhimaan, Chupke Chupke, Kaala Patthar, Shaan, Yaarana, and Shakti.

After a brief hiatus in the 1990s, the six National Film Award-winner returned with Mohabbatein and went on to star in hits like Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Baghban, Black, Sarkar, Paa, Piku, Pink, Badla, Brahmastra, and Kalki 2898 AD. The icon, recipient of Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Vibhushan, currently hosts the quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati.

Big B was last seen in Vettaiyan with Rajinikanth and will next appear in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayan: Part 1, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, and Yash, essaying the role of Jatayu.
