Shiv Sena visits Jagti migrant camp, KP urges Uddhav Thackeray to facilitate safe return to Valley

Displaced in their own country and state, when the promises of rehabilitation will be fulfilled?

JAMMU: A team of Shiv Sena (UBT) Jammu and Kashmir unit visited the Kashmiri displaced colony Jagti Township located in Nagrota, Jammu, aiming to address the issues and concerns of the Kashmiri Pandit community.
Manish Sahni, President of Shiv Sena, J&K, asserted that despite the passage of more than thirty five years, the return of Kashmiri Pandits to their homeland remains unfulfilled. He said that the community members are facing challenges and hardships while trying to rebuild their lives in their own country and state.
“The displaced Kashmiri Pandits, currently residing in the camps, are being provided a relief amount of Rs. On  the name of relief amount, they are being given only Rs.3200 per head, in this era of inflation, it has become difficult to meet the expenses of home and children’s education, it should be increased to Rs.7000/- per person.  On the other hand, in Jagati township, about 200 shops have been built 13 years back for self-employment to Kashmiri Pandits, which have not been allotted till date despite depositing security.
Sahni said that the prevailing situation in Kashmir is marked by targeted killings, instilling fear among the working Kashmiri Hindus who were demanding safe zones in Jammu region through a year-long protest but unfortunately, their demands were overlooked.
Sahni emphasized that while the Modi government had capitalized on the votes of Kashmiri Pandits during its nine-year tenure, nothing has been done to facilitate their safe return to their homes. Despite the abrogation of Article 370 and 35A on August 5, 2019, the possibility of the return of Kashmiri Pandits to the valley remains uncertain.
