Shrimad Bhagwat Katha begins with Kalash Yatra
JAMMU, Apr 26: A huge Kalash Yatra was taken out with great enthusiasm and religious fervour, to mark the beginning of Shrimad Bhagwat Katha at Lower Roop Nagar, here.
The atmosphere became devotional with the chanting of hymns and chants by the devotees who took part in the Kalash Yatra led by Mahant Ramdass Jagjanni Ji accompanied by drums. Shrimad Bhagwat Katha started with the installation of urns after worshiping.
Hundreds of devotees drawn from different parts of Jammu and its outskirts participated in the inaugural programme.
Mahant Ramdass Jagjanni Ji gave religious discourses on Lord Krishna’s life and spirituality. He, while highlighting the teachings of Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta, said that it is the unique scripture in the world which shows the path how to get rid of the bandages of life and attain Mooksha.
Mahant Ramdass Ji also said Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta is a perfect guide to a human being and he who acts as per its teachings will never face any problem but will overcome the worldly bondages and attain perfection in life.
Mahant Ramdass Ji, while making a reference to Bhagwat Geeta and the piece of advice given by Lord Krishna to his beloved Arjuna who wanted to leave the battlefield and renounce the world, gladly took to arms to fight against the injustice after Lord Krishna showed him the path of righteousness.
Speaking on the occasion, Former legislator and senior BJP leader Shiv Dev Singh, who was the chief guest on the occasion, gave information about Shrimad Bhagwat to the present devotees and said that by listening to it the sins of our many births are destroyed.
He told the present devotees that if we want inner peace, then we have to increase our efforts to do our duty always with a pure mind. At the same time, we must take some time out to remember God, so that pure thoughts can emerge within us, he added.
Shiv Dev added that a person has many means of comfort, but if the mind is not at peace, then he does not like anything and the one who has peace in his mind does not need any material things. If the mind is calm then no demerit can enter into us, he said.
Prominent persons among others present on the occasion include Corporators Tripta Devi and Surinder Sharma, District President BJP Omi Khajuria, and BJP leader Suresh Khajuria.
