Siddhant Chaturvedi to Portray Legendary Filmmaker V. Shantaram in New Biopic
Actor calls the role one of the greatest honours of his career as makers unveil powerful first poster
Mumbai, Dec 01 : Bollywood actor Siddhant Chaturvedi is set to bring one of Indian cinema’s greatest visionaries to life in the upcoming biopic V Shantaram. The makers have released the film’s first look, offering a striking glimpse of Siddhant in the iconic filmmaker’s avatar.
Shared by the actor and Camera Take Films, the poster features Siddhant in traditional attire and a Nehru cap, standing beside an old school film camera perfectly capturing the essence of the pioneering director. The poster carries the caption: “The Rebel Who Redefined Indian Cinema Is Back Where He Belongs On the Big Screen.”

Calling it a milestone role, Siddhant expressed that portraying V Shantaram is “one of the greatest honours” of his life. He said the filmmaker’s extraordinary journey moved him deeply.
“He wasn’t just a pioneer in Indian and global cinema; he was a visionary who pushed boundaries. Stepping into his world has been transformative for me as an actor. His life reminded me of the power of perseverance,” Siddhant said.
Director Abhijeet Shirish Deshpande, who helms the project, described Shantaram as a lifelong inspiration. He said Siddhant was always the first choice for the role:

Who was V Shantaram?
Born Shantaram Rajaram Vankudre in 1901, he shaped Indian cinema over a career spanning seven decades. He founded Prabhat Film Company in 1929 and Rajkamal Kalamandir in 1942. Shantaram created India’s first Marathi talkie, Ayodhyecha Raja (1932), and used cinema as a tool for social transformation.
