Srinagar Police Razes ₹1.5 Crore Illegal Property Linked To Absconding Drug Smuggler
Action Taken Under Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Campaign Against Narcotics Activities
Srinagar, May 20: In a major action against narcotics related crimes, Srinagar Police on Tuesday demolished an illegally constructed property valued at nearly ₹1.5 crore in the Lal Bazar area as part of its ongoing campaign under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan.
Officials said the demolition drive was carried out by Police Station Lal Bazar at Haka Bazar, where a two-storey structure along with an attached room and washroom had allegedly been raised illegally on State land. The property, spread across nearly nine marlas, was reportedly linked to a wanted drug peddler involved in multiple NDPS cases.
According to police authorities, the accused has been identified as Arshid Ahmed Sheikh, son of Wali Mohammad Sheikh, a resident of Haka Bazar, Lal Bazar. Police stated that he is allegedly involved in several narcotics-related offences registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Officials revealed that the accused is facing charges in FIR No. 31/2025 registered at Police Station Janipur, Jammu, under Sections 8/21 and 22 of the NDPS Act. Another case, FIR No. 50/2025 under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act, has also been registered against him at Police Station Lal Bazar.
The demolition process was conducted in the presence of the Executive Magistrate Khanyar and officials from the Srinagar Municipal Corporation to ensure legal compliance and administrative supervision during the operation.
Police authorities said the action forms part of a broader strategy aimed at dismantling illegal assets and financial infrastructure allegedly created through the narcotics trade. The operation, they added, was completed peacefully and under strict monitoring.
Reaffirming its resolve to curb the drug menace, Srinagar Police urged citizens to support law enforcement agencies by providing information related to drug trafficking and other criminal activities in their localities.
Officials maintained that the anti-drug campaign will continue across the district with intensified efforts against individuals involved in narcotics smuggling and illegal profiteering.
