23-05-2023 : According to the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), sixteen applicants from the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir—13 from Jammu and three from Kashmir—have achieved a significant victory in the Civil Services Examination 2022. Wasim Ahmad Bhat from Dooru in Anantnag, who achieved the astounding 7th position, Parsanjeet Kour from Poonch, who achieved the 11th rank, and Nitin Singh from Kathua, who achieved the 32nd rank, are some of the outstanding performers.
Joining the ranks of successful candidates are Naved Ashan Bhat from Sopore (84th rank), Ambika Raina (164th rank), Namneet Singh from R S Pura (191st rank), Manan Bhat from Soura in Srinagar (231st rank), Arjun Gupta from Trikuta Nagar Jammu (228th rank), Manil Bejotra from Bishnah in Jammu (314th rank), Mohd Irfan from Thathar Bantalab in Jammu (476th rank), Dwarka Gaadhi from Bishnah in Jammu (505th rank), Anjeet Singh of Bhalesa in Doda (565th rank), Abhinandan Singh from Nardi Bala, Akhnoor (749th rank), Nivranshu Hans (811th rank), Dr. Iram Choudhary from Rajouri (852nd rank), and Aadesh Basnotra (888th rank).
Out of the total of 933 candidates who qualified the Civil Services Examination 2022, women remarkably secured the top four ranks. Ishita Kishore secured the first position, followed by Garmia Lohia, Uma Harathi N, and Smriti Mishra securing the second, third, and fourth ranks, respectively. This marks the second consecutive year when women candidates have dominated the top three ranks in this prestigious examination.
Among the successful candidates from Jammu and Kashmir, some had previously cleared either the UPSC or JKAS exams. Waseem Ahmad Bhat, a 25-year-old from Dooru in South Kashmir’s Anantnag, brought great honor to J&K by securing the 7th rank in the UPSC-2022 examination. In the previous year, he achieved the 225th rank, demonstrating significant improvement this year.
Expressing his joy, Waseem acknowledged the support of his family and friends and urged aspiring youngsters to recognize their potential, work diligently, and strive to achieve their goals. He emphasized the importance of setting clear objectives and pursuing them with unwavering passion. Proper guidance and dedicated efforts were highlighted as essential elements for success in the Civil Services field.
Another standout candidate, Parsanjeet Kour, daughter of pharmacist Nirmal Singh and Darshan Kour from Poonch, secured the 11th rank in her first attempt. Parsanjeet aspires to serve the people of Jammu and Kashmir, with a specific focus on improving the healthcare and education sectors.
Nittin Singh from Kathua, who secured the 32nd rank in UPSC 2022, had also cracked the JKAS 2021 exam, securing the 14th rank. Namneet Singh from R S Pura, securing the 191st rank in UPSC 2022, had previously achieved the 436th rank in UPSC 2021.
Congratulations were offered to the four top-ranking women and the successful candidates from Jammu and Kashmir by Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh and others. There were 933 qualifying applicants for the Civil Services Exam 2022, including 613 men and 320 women. 14 women and 11 males made up the top 25 candidates.
1,022 seats, comprising 180 IAS officers, 38 IFS officers, 200 IPS officers, 473 positions in Group A central services, and 131 positions in Group B services, were reported to be open by the Central Government and will be filled through the Civil Services Examination. 178 individuals have also been added to the reserve list by the UPSC.
