Sugar Isn’t to Blame: Dr Pal Reveals the Hidden Cause of Diabetes and Insulin Resistance”
Gastroenterologist Dr Pal says diabetes is less about sugar and more about insulin resistance caused by stress, poor sleep, and processed foods and the condition can be reversed through simple lifestyle changes.
Mumbai, Nov 10 : We’ve all been told that cutting down on sugar is the key to preventing diabetes but what if sugar isn’t the real problem? Gastroenterologist Dr Pal, known for sharing simple and science-backed health insights on social media, has debunked one of the biggest myths surrounding diabetes. In a recent post, he explained that insulin resistance, not sugar, is the true culprit behind rising diabetes cases.
According to Dr Pal, insulin resistance occurs when the body’s cells stop responding effectively to insulin the hormone responsible for moving glucose into cells for energy. As a result, blood sugar levels stay high, fat accumulates around the belly, and inflammation increases. “It’s not just a sugar problem,” he explained, “it’s a full-body imbalance that stems from our modern lifestyle.”
What triggers insulin resistance?
Dr Pal highlighted that the root causes are not desserts or sweets but poor sleep, sedentary habits, chronic stress, and a diet loaded with processed foods. He described diabetes as a lifestyle disease one that can be reversed naturally by addressing these everyday habits. “When you fix your sleep, eat clean, stay active, and manage stress, your body begins to heal itself,” he said.
Early warning signs of poor blood sugar control
Even before blood test reports turn abnormal, Dr Pal warned that the body sends subtle signals of trouble. These include persistent fatigue, sugar cravings after meals, brain fog, and restless sleep. Frequent nighttime urination, excessive thirst, and dark patches on the neck or underarms are also early signs of insulin resistance.
He emphasized the importance of recognising these symptoms early, saying that waiting for HbA1c levels to rise could delay treatment. “Your body always whispers before it screams,” he cautioned, urging people to take preventive action rather than waiting for diabetes to be diagnosed.
By shifting focus from sugar restriction to lifestyle correction, Dr Pal believes many can not only prevent but also reverse the onset of diabetes naturally and sustainably.
