Tamil Nadu Politics: Talks Ongoing with PMK Chief Ramadoss to Join DMK Alliance, Says Minister
Ramadoss faction considers joining DMK-led alliance as PMK splits deepen between father and son
New Delhi, Jan 12 : Senior Dravidian leader Dr. S. Ramadoss is reportedly holding discussions to join the DMK led alliance, Tamil Nadu Minister Rajakannappan confirmed, amid growing signs of a split within the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK).
The PMK has been functioning in two factions due to tensions between Ramadoss and his son Anbumani Ramadoss, who has already aligned his camp with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) ahead of the Assembly elections. This sets the stage for a possible realignment by the senior leader’s faction.
Political speculation intensified after Ramadoss met party cadres at his Thailapuram residence and praised the four-year tenure of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin as “good governance.” When asked about potential collaboration with VCK leader Thol Thirumavalavan, Ramadoss hinted that in politics “anything is possible…even the unexpected.”
A DMK consultative meeting in Paramakudi further fuelled speculation. Minister Rajakannappan stated that talks were ongoing for Ramadoss to join the DMK alliance, signaling official acknowledgment of the developments. He also urged alliance partners, including the MDMK, which contests under the DMK’s Rising Sun symbol, to work collectively to ensure electoral victories.
While no formal announcement has yet come from Ramadoss, the discussions, if confirmed, could significantly alter Tamil Nadu’s alliance dynamics, particularly in regions where PMK has traditional influence.
