Tanvir Sadiq encourages youth participation at National Gateball Tournament
Commends organisers for successfully hosting event in Srinagar
Srinagar, 08 June: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Chief Spokesperson and MLA Zadibal Tanvir Sadiq visited the National Gateball Tournament 2026 being held at Zadibal, Srinagar, and interacted with participating athletes from various states across the country including Odisha, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Punjab.
Tanvir watched the matches and took keen interest in the sport, even trying his hand at Gateball for the first time. Speaking on the occasion, he said that sporting events such as the National Gateball Tournament serve as an important platform for fostering national integration, camaraderie and healthy competition among youth from different regions of the country.
He lauded the participants for their enthusiasm, discipline and sportsmanship, and extended his best wishes for the success of the tournament. He also congratulated the organisers for successfully hosting the national-level event in Srinagar and providing a valuable opportunity to promote emerging sports in Jammu and Kashmir.
He expressed hope that such events would continue to encourage greater participation in sports and further strengthen bonds of friendship and mutual understanding among players from across India.
Sadiq also appreciated the efforts of the Omar Abdullah-led elected government in promoting sports infrastructure and encouraging youth participation across Jammu and Kashmir. He said the present focus on developing sporting platforms and supporting emerging disciplines is helping provide greater opportunities for young athletes in the region.
