Three-Day Maha Shivratri Mahotsav Concludes with Devotional Fervor and Artistic Brilliance at Panjvaktra Mahadev Mandir

Ved Pathshala Students Impress with Sacred Chants and Chhau Dance

 

 

Jammu, February 26: The grand Maha Shivratri Mahotsav 2025, held at the revered Panjvaktra Mahadev Mandir, concluded today, leaving behind a legacy of profound spiritual experiences and artistic excellence. The event, organized in collaboration with Directorate of Tourism, Jammu, and the J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages, drew thousands of devotees and art enthusiasts from across the region.

The final day was marked by a captivating blend of sacred rituals and cultural performances. The day began with melodious Light Bhajans by the Milan Cultural Society. This was followed by a deeply moving traditional devotional performance by Veer Bhan & Party, whose soulful renditions resonated with the audience, invoking a sense of deep devotion.

A significant highlight of the day was the sacred Mahadev Abhishek & Aarti, where devotees participated in elaborate rituals, offering prayers to Lord Shiva. Later, renowned classical singer Dr. Rakesh Kalotra captivated the audience with his semi-classical bhajans, accompanied by the masterful musicianship of Shri Rakesh Anand on the flute, Guru Parshotam Kumar on Pakhawaj, Dr Vinay on Tabla and Er. Amarjeet Singh on the violin.

Adding to the spiritual ambiance, the students of the Panjvaktra Mahadev Ved Pathshala performed sacred Vedic recitations. The Ved Pathshala, operating as a traditional Gurukul within the temple premises, not only imparts Vedic knowledge but also focuses on holistic development through yoga and ancient traditional art forms.

Demonstrating their versatility, the students of the Ved Pathshala, under the expert guidance of Chhau exponent Shivan Gupta, showcased the vibrant Chhau art form. This performance highlighted the students’ remarkable transformation from Vedic scholars to skilled practitioners of traditional art, showcasing the comprehensive education they receive.

Bringing a touch of classical elegance to the celebrations, the Nrityanjali group, under the guidance of Dr. Priya Dutta, presented a mesmerizing Kathak performance. The dancers beautifully depicted the divine narratives associated with Lord Shiva through intricate footwork and graceful expressions.A special segment of the performance paid tribute to the life of Ahilya Bai Holkar, portraying her devotion and contributions through expressive movements and storytelling. Additionally, the group performed a captivating piece in Dogri, celebrating the region’s rich cultural heritage and deep spiritual traditions.

The Mahotsav culminated with the auspicious Shiv Vivah ceremony, performed by the Jangam community, recreating the celestial wedding of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati with great reverence and enthusiasm.
