Uniform e-Governance Standards: A Crucial Step Towards National Tech Harmony, Says Amit Sharma

Mizoram ICT Secretary Stresses Standardized Digital Guidelines at Agartala Workshop

Agartala, December 22 : Amit Sharma, Special Secretary for Information & Communications Technology (ICT) and Cooperation (Independent Charge), Mizoram, underscored the urgent need for uniform e-Governance standards across all states in India to ensure the effective implementation of technology reforms. Sharma was speaking at the two-day State-Level Awareness Workshop and CBT on e-Governance Standards and Guidelines, held in Agartala, Tripura, where he was invited as a Special Guest.

Highlighting the importance of such initiatives, Sharma stated, “To achieve the desired technological advancements and ensure a seamless governance framework, uniform e-Governance standards are essential. Regular workshops like these are critical, particularly for the North Eastern states, which are making significant strides in implementing e-Governance reforms.”

Sharma expressed appreciation for the contributions of Santosh Pandey, Director at the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), who provided valuable insights during the event. Pandey emphasized the importance of standardizing e-Governance protocols and guidelines to enable consistent and effective execution nationwide.

The Special Secretary also elaborated on the broader vision of e-Governance standardization, framing it as a key component of the “Ek Bharat – Whole of Government Convergence” initiative, aimed at integrating IT reforms across the nation. He shared insights into how standardized guidelines can enhance operational efficiency and foster inter-state collaboration.

The workshop, organized with the support of the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), saw active participation from various stakeholders. Karimullah Shaik, Scientist G from C-DAC Pune, announced plans to extend this awareness initiative, with the next workshop scheduled to take place in Aizawl, the capital of Mizoram, within the next few months.

The event reflects a growing consensus on the need for a cohesive digital governance framework, with Sharma emphasizing that the North Eastern region can become a model for e-Governance reforms. “Workshops like these not only enhance awareness but also act as a bridge to bring national-level advancements to the region, ensuring no state is left behind in the digital revolution,” he added.

With uniform standards and guidelines as the cornerstone of the nation’s e-Governance strategy, Sharma’s remarks underscore the transformative potential of technology in creating an inclusive and efficient governance ecosystem.
