Breaking Barriers: Swati Dutt's Research Sheds Light on Social Mobility Among Scheduled Caste Women

16-06-2023 : Swati Dutt, the wife of Dr. Sunil Tanoch and a resident of Udhampur, has achieved a significant academic milestone by qualifying for the award of a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) degree in Sociology from the University of Jammu. Her commendable accomplishment is the result of her dedicated research and hard work in the field of sociology.

Swati’s doctoral research focused on the topic of “Social Mobility and Scheduled Caste Women: A Study of Bhalwal and Akhnoor Blocks in Jammu District.” The objective of her study was to explore and analyze the social mobility patterns among Scheduled Caste women residing in the Bhalwal and Akhnoor blocks of Jammu District.

Under the guidance and supervision of Prof. Vishav Raksha, the Head of the Department of Sociology, Swati conducted an in-depth investigation into the factors influencing social mobility among Scheduled Caste women. She examined various aspects such as education, employment opportunities, social status, and cultural factors that impact the social mobility of this marginalized group.

Swati’s research methodology involved extensive fieldwork, data collection, interviews, and analysis of qualitative and quantitative data. She gathered insights from a diverse range of primary and secondary sources to gain a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter.
