Elected representatives should protest in the House: Sahni
Jammu: Shiv Sena UBT Jammu-Kashmir unit, in solidarity with all elected representatives of the ruling and opposition parties, on the delay in restoration of state status, protested in the House on the first day of the upcoming assembly session and exposed the public sentiment to give a strong message to the central government.
In a press conference held today at the party’s state central office, state chief Manish Sahni said that the erstwhile state of Jammu-Kashmir remaining a Union Territory (UT) is an insult to public opinion, the Lieutenant Governor, Chief Minister, all ministers and MLAs are enjoying their personal facilities to the fullest, but public issues are being sidelined and people are being crushed in the mill of dual power system, the era of accountability is almost coming to an end.
He said that the BJP government at the centre has maintained silence in fulfilling the promise of restoration of statehood, while Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and his ministers are not able to move beyond verbal protest.
Sahni said that all parties should rise above their political and personal interests and put pressure on the central government to restore the statehood of Jammu and Kashmir with unity. Sahni has warned of protests outside the House on the first day of the Assembly session starting on March 3. Along with this, he has demanded from the MLAs to protest unitedly inside the House and send a strong message to the Central Government. On this occasion Gen Secretary Vikas Bakshi was also present.
