Jammu Gears Up for Christmas with Enthusiastic Procession Led by Churches Fellowship
JAMMU, Dec 20: In a vibrant and festive display of unity and devotion, the Christian community of Jammu city took out a grand Christmas procession today, marking the advent of the joyous Christmas season. Organized under the banner of the J&K Joint Churches Fellowship, the event showcased the community’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage.
The procession, which began from Shahidi Chowk, meandered through the heart of the city, covering key routes such as Residency Road, Raghunath Bazar, City Chowk, Shalamar Road, Parade, Library Chowk, Kachi Chawni, Panjtirthi, CPO Chowk, Jain Bazar, Link Road, and Purani Mandi, before culminating back at its starting point.

Adding to the festive charm were tableaus depicting biblical scenes, including angels and King Herod, and the ever-cheerful Santa Claus, delighting onlookers along the route. Church Choirs from various congregations filled the air with worship songs celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ, creating a harmonious and spiritual atmosphere.
The procession was warmly welcomed by market associations at several points, who offered refreshments to the participants, reflecting the city’s spirit of inclusivity and goodwill. District authorities ensured the event’s smooth conduct by making elaborate arrangements for traffic management and public safety.
The event was spearheaded by key organizers, including Rev. Shoukat Peter, President of the Joint Churches Fellowship Jammu; Rev. Hemant Digal, Priest of St. Paul’s Church; Fr. Arul, Priest of the Catholic Church; Rev. Musraf Bhatti, Vice President; Rev. Rohil Mattoo, General Secretary; and a host of other pastors, priests, and community leaders from churches across the city.
The procession not only symbolized the Christian community’s preparation for Christmas but also emphasized themes of peace, harmony, and universal brotherhood. Participants expressed their joy and faith, with many highlighting the importance of coming together in celebration and prayer.
