Weather Alert: Jammu and Kashmir Anticipates Widespread Rain and Snowfall Till Tuesday

Srinagar, 13-04-2024 :  Weather conditions in Jammu and Kashmir are expected to remain intermittently wet until Tuesday, according to officials. Widespread to moderate rainfall is anticipated across the region during this period, accompanied by snowfall in the higher elevations.

The Meteorological Centre in Srinagar has forecasted widespread light to moderate rain and thunderstorms over the next 24 hours, followed by similar conditions for the subsequent two days. Additionally, partly to generally cloudy skies with light rain or snow are expected in higher areas from April 15 evening to 16 morning. However, the weather is predicted to turn dry with late afternoon thundershower activity in some places between April 17 and 18. From April 19 to 20, partly cloudy days with light rain or snow are anticipated in many areas.

The forecasted wet weather may lead to disruptions in traffic on higher routes and trigger landslides, mudslides, and shooting stones. Travellers and tourists are advised to plan accordingly, and farmers are urged to suspend farm operations until April 16. Overnight minimum temperatures varied across different locations, with Srinagar recording 10.2 degrees Celsius, Gulmarg 2.6, Pahalgam 3.2, Jammu city 20.5, Katra 18.1, Batote 3, Bhaderwah 9, Banihal 9.8, Leh town -0.5, Kargil 1.2, and Drass -0.5 degrees Celsius.
