Tibet Advocacy Alliance Seeks MP Gulam Ali’s Support for Tibetan Freedom and Culture

MP Khatana Urged to Champion Tibetan Rights in Parliament

New Delhi, November 30: The Tibet Advocacy Alliance – India has reached out to senior BJP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Er. Gulam Ali Khatana, urging him to champion Tibet’s struggle for freedom and justice in Parliament, at his official residence in New Delhi.

The alliance presented a set of key requests aimed at enhancing India’s support for the Tibetan people’s ongoing struggle for freedom, justice, and self-determination.

During the meeting, the delegation urged MP Khatana to recognize Tibet as an occupied nation with a historically independent and sovereign past. They emphasized the importance of affirming the Indo-Tibet border, a move that holds significant geopolitical and cultural implications for India.

The alliance also called for Khatana to make a statement in Parliament advocating continued Indian support for the Tibetan struggle, highlighting its alignment with universal human rights and India’s moral responsibility.

In a symbolic gesture of respect and recognition, the alliance requested India to honor His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, a global figure of peace and compassion, as he approaches his 90th birthday next year. Additionally, they stressed the urgent need to safeguard Tibetan culture and language, which are under threat due to Chinese policies in Tibet.

MP Khatana acknowledged the alliance’s concerns and expressed his willingness to consider their requests, underscoring India’s historic and spiritual ties with the Tibetan community.
