Omar becomes softened, no signs of restoration of statehood in near future
NC turned back on its election promises, silent on the return of Kashmiri Pandits: Sahni
Jammu,09-02-2025.: The attitude of the Omar government, which passed the proposal of restoration of statehood and special privileges for Jammu and Kashmir on the lines of North-Eastern states in the first cabinet meeting, has now cooled down. To avoid a situation of conflict, there is procrastination in fulfilling the promises of free electricity, drinking water, minimum wages, regularization of daily wagers, etc. The surrendered attitude of NC has given a severe blow to the expectations of the people, stated Manish Sahni, President, Shiv Sena (UBT) Jammu and Kashmir unit.
In a press conference held today at the party’s state central office, state chief Manish Sahni said that in the situation of two power systems in Jammu and Kashmir, the people and their basic issues are being crushed. NC, which won the assembly elections, has surrendered on its main issues to avoid a situation of conflict. At the same time, in the 2025-26 budget, the Center is bringing the Police at par with the Delhi Police by keeping the Jammu and Kashmir Police budget under the estimates of the Ministry of Home Affairs. From this, it is clear that the full statehood of Jammu and Kashmir is not going to be restored in the near future. At the same time, the silence and soft attitude of the Omar government on this is an indication that something is definitely cooking between the NC and the BJP.
At the same time, the Omar government has turned away to avoid a confrontation on the promises of free electricity, drinking water, minimum wages, employment, regularization of daily wagers, women empowerment, etc. Sahni said that turning away from public issues and promises and getting close to the BJP will prove fatal for the political future of the NC. No concrete efforts are visible on the ground from the Centre and Omar government regarding the safe return of Kashmiri Pandits to the valley.
