Shawwal Moon Sighted: Jammu & Kashmir to Celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr Tomorrow

Jammu, 30-03-2025: The crescent marking the beginning of the Islamic month of Shawwal has been sighted in Jammu and Kashmir, confirming that Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated across the region tomorrow (Monday), Grand Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam announced on Sunday.

According to the Grand Mufti, sufficient credible testimonies regarding the sighting of the Shawwal moon have been received from different parts of Jammu and Kashmir. With this, the sacred month of Ramadan concludes, ushering in the joyous occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, one of the most significant festivals in the Islamic calendar.

Grand Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam extended his heartfelt greetings to the Muslim community, particularly the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He prayed for peace, prosperity, and happiness for all on this auspicious occasion. “May this blessed festival bring abundant joy, harmony, and well-being to everyone,” he said, emphasizing the spirit of unity, compassion, and gratitude that Eid symbolizes.

Eid-ul-Fitr, observed at the culmination of Ramadan, is marked by special prayers, charitable giving, and communal celebrations. Devotees across Jammu and Kashmir are expected to gather at mosques and Eidgahs to offer the special Eid prayers, seeking divine blessings for themselves, their families, and society at large. The day is also traditionally celebrated with festive meals, the sharing of gifts, and acts of kindness, reinforcing the values of generosity and brotherhood.

As preparations for Eid get underway, markets in different parts of Jammu and Kashmir witnessed a festive rush, with people purchasing sweets, new clothes, and gifts for loved ones. The spirit of celebration is evident as families and communities come together to rejoice in the blessings of Eid-ul-Fitr.
