Ed Sheeran Pursues Six-Pack, Prioritizes Fitness and Balanced Lifestyle
Grammy-winning singer shares his fitness journey and newfound priorities in personal life.
Grammy winning singer Ed Sheeran has set his sights on a new fitness milestone: achieving a six-pack for the first time. During a chat with Andy Cohen for Sirius XM’s Small Stage Series, Sheeran revealed, “I gained quite a bit of weight last year, so I decided to hit the gym seriously and try to lose about a stone. Once I started, I thought, ‘Why not see how far I can push this?’”
The “Perfect” singer admitted he has never had a six-pack before and is now determined to reach this goal. “I’ve never actually had one in my life, so I want to see if I can get there,” he said, acknowledging the challenges along the way. “I keep slipping up sometimes, like when I’m out and have a couple of beers,” he laughed. “But overall, it’s going pretty well. I feel like I’m in the best shape I’ve ever been in.”
Sheeran has long focused on health and fitness, beginning serious exercise after quitting smoking in 2019. “When I stopped smoking, I realized how much my lungs needed clearing out,” he said, adding that he prefers exercising outdoors for the mental reset it provides.
Beyond fitness, Sheeran emphasized the importance of balance in his life. “In the first decade of my career, I was extremely unhappy because I had no balance. I was just working all the time. My music was hugely successful, but my personal life suffered,” he told The Sun.
Now, Sheeran has restructured his priorities, dedicating about 70% of his life to family and friends and 30% to work. He credits his marriage to Cherry Seaborn and fatherhood to daughters Lyra and Jupiter for this shift. “Finding that balance, living as a human being rather than just a pop star machine, is my true measure of success,” he added.
