Varun Dhawan Reveals How Father David Dhawan Influenced His Bollywood Journey
Actor reflects on lessons learned from legendary filmmaker while preparing for upcoming film release
Mumbai, Sep 30: Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan has opened up about the pivotal role his father, legendary filmmaker David Dhawan, played in shaping his career. Speaking to ANI, Varun recalled his early days as an intern on his father’s film sets in Delhi, where he eagerly contributed ideas even attempting to suggest how shots should be executed.
“Once during my internship, I tried to suggest how a shot should be done. But it wasn’t his vision, and honestly, I wasn’t in a position to comment yet. I was too young,” Varun shared. David Dhawan, known for his strong creative vision, told him, “Jab tum apni film banaoge ya jab ek mukaam pe phuch jaaoge, tab karlena ye sab… But for now, this is my set, and things will be done my way.”
Initially disappointed, Varun admitted he later realized the wisdom in his father’s guidance. Over the years, their relationship has evolved into a productive creative partnership, with Varun valuing his father’s advice in refining his craft.
Aside from reflecting on his father’s influence, Varun is gearing up for his next release, ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’, which also stars Janhvi Kapoor, Rohit Saraf, and Sanya Malhotra. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on October 2.
