JAMMU, Oct 4: The 4th GA-500 Lawyers’ Conference, a significant gathering aimed at strengthening legal advocacy and promoting community empowerment, was held with great enthusiasm at the Gurjar Desh Charitable Trust (GDCT) in Jammu under the banner of Akhil Bhartiya Veer Gujjar Adhivakta Parishad (ABVGAP). The day-long conference brought together 70 prominent advocates from Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi, Punjab, and Uttarakhand, underscoring a shared commitment to justice, equality, and legal reforms.

The conference was inaugurated by Javed Iqbal Choudhary, MLA, and presided over by a distinguished panel including former Delhi Police DCP G.S. Awana, former Deputy Commissioner of J&K Ch. Rashid Azam Inqlabi (Retd.), and retired District Judge Nighat Sultana. The event commenced with a warm welcome address by Arshad Ali Choudhary, Chairman of GDCT, who was joined by Mohammad Sadiq Azad, General Secretary, and Arafat Masud, Vice Chairman of the Trust.

Delivering the keynote address, Bharat Bhushan Gurjar, founder of ABVGAP, called for the full implementation of the Advocates Act in Jammu and Kashmir to ensure equality within the legal fraternity and safeguard the professional rights of lawyers. He highlighted the importance of a united legal community in addressing systemic challenges and strengthening the justice delivery system.

The conference also served as a dynamic platform for legal minds to deliberate on critical issues such as judicial reforms, legal awareness, access to justice, and community development. Eminent lawyers including Ranvir Gurjar, Rita Singh, Ravinder Singh, Rehana Gurjar, Yashpal Rana, Saroj Adhana, Mehmood Qari, Anayat Gorsi, Owais Choudhary, Soraj Adhana, Rukhsana Choudhary, Arifa Choudhary, Zulfiqar Inqlabi, and Jameel Choudhary shared their insights on the evolving legal landscape and the need to equip the Gujjar legal fraternity to play a more proactive role in nation-building.

The conference also paid heartfelt tributes to visionary figures who contributed immensely to the community’s upliftment. Zaffar Iqbal Jagil led the homage to Late Dr. Masud Ahmed Choudhary, the founder of GDCT, and a two-minute silence was observed in memory of Justice Balbir Singh Gurjar, retired District and Sessions Judge of Haryana. On the occasion, trustees and patrons of GDCT — including Ch. Shouket Javed, Ch. Farooq Alam Thekria, Fareed Ahmed Choudhary, Ch. Iftikhar Ahmed (SSP), Inzar Ahmed Rana, and Gulam Rasool — were honoured for their sustained contributions to social and legal causes.

In his address, Ch. Rashid Azam Inqlabi lauded the efforts of ABVGAP and GDCT for providing a meaningful platform that brings together legal professionals from diverse regions to collaborate on shared objectives. He stressed the need for legal empowerment at the grassroots level and emphasized the role of lawyers in safeguarding constitutional values and promoting social justice.

The conference concluded with a unanimous resolution to expand the GA-500 network across India, deepening collaboration among Gujjar advocates and strengthening their role in the legal ecosystem. It was announced that the next GA-500 Lawyers’ Conference will be hosted in Madhya Pradesh, marking another step forward in the growing movement to unify and empower the Gujjar legal fraternity nationwide.
