Pawan Singh Responds After Wife Goes Live Alleging Harassment
Bhojpuri actor turned politician denies charges, claims personal dispute being politicized ahead of Bihar Assembly elections.
Patna, Oct 7: With the Bihar Assembly elections approaching, Bhojpuri actor turned politician Pawan Singh finds himself embroiled in a personal controversy that has gone public. His wife, Jyoti Singh, recently went live on Instagram from outside their residence, accusing him of harassment and infidelity, drawing widespread attention online.
In response, Pawan Singh posted a detailed note on Instagram on Monday, denying the allegations and asserting that his wife was attempting to “use him for political gain.” He said the two had a “respectful” conversation lasting over an hour during her recent visit to his house.
“I have always considered the public as God. I can never hurt the people who made me what I am today,” Singh stated.
The actor also alleged that Jyoti Singh had been pressuring him to secure a ticket to contest the upcoming Bihar elections, which he claimed was beyond his control. Addressing reports of police involvement, Singh clarified that officers were present only to ensure no untoward incidents occurred.
The controversy comes shortly after Singh rejoined the NDA and met senior BJP leaders, including Amit Shah and JP Nadda, to participate in the alliance’s election campaign. Political observers suggest that the timing of the personal scandal could impact the NDA’s public image amid a high-stakes electoral battle.
The Bihar Assembly elections for the 18th Legislative Assembly are scheduled to be held in two phases: November 6 for 121 constituencies and November 11 for 122 constituencies, covering a total of 243 seats across the state.
