J&K Police Arrest Two NDPS Fugitives in Kulgam After 20 Years on the Run

Long-Term Drug Offenders Arrested in Separate NDPS Cases, Marking Major Crackdown by Kulgam Police

Kulgam, Oct 17: In a significant law enforcement breakthrough, Kulgam Police apprehended two long-term absconders wanted in separate NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act cases registered at Police Station Qazigund.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Aijaz Ahmad Sheikh, son of Gh. Qadir Sheikh, from Nassu Badrahgund, who was wanted in FIR No. 107/2005 under Sections 15/18 of the NDPS Act. He was taken into custody near J&K Bank Qazigund after evading arrest for nearly 20 years.

The second accused, Bilal Ahmad Ganie, son of Gh. Nabi Ganie, a resident of Lalen Ganoor Kulgam, currently residing at Levdora near Railway Bridge Qazigund, was wanted in FIR No. 223/2006 under Sections 15/18 of the NDPS Act. He had been absconding for approximately 19 years.

Both arrests underscore the persistent efforts of Kulgam Police in tracking down long-term fugitives involved in drug-related offences.

SSP Kulgam, Anayat Choudhary (IPS), lauded the police teams for their work, stating, “Kulgam Police is committed to bringing all offenders, especially those involved in drug trafficking, to justice. Operations against absconders will continue to ensure that no one evades the law.”

The arrests are being hailed as a major step in the district’s fight against drug trafficking and related criminal activities.
