Sajad Lone Slams ‘Fixed Match’ Between NC and BJP After Rajya Sabha Results

‘Axis of Evil’: Lone Alleges Secret Deal Between NC and BJP in RS Polls

  •  Sajad Lone Demands Probe, Claims NC Helped BJP Clinch Fourth RS Seat

Srinagar, October 24: People’s Conference President and Handwara MLA, Sajad Gani Lone, launched a sharp attack on both the National Conference (NC) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) following the outcome of the Rajya Sabha elections in Jammu and Kashmir, describing the process as a “fixed match.” His comments came shortly after the NC secured three out of four Rajya Sabha seats, while the BJP managed to win one.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Lone alleged that the results were a product of behind-the-scenes coordination between the two parties. “So BJP wins the fourth seat. As predicted—fixed match. Axis of the evil—NC and BJP. Thank God I abstained. Imagine what my plight would have been,” he wrote, accusing both sides of undermining democratic integrity for political convenience.

Lone claimed that the voting pattern pointed to a possible understanding between the two rivals, stating that the NC had polled more votes than necessary for its third candidate, which he suggested could have been part of a calculated move to secure the BJP’s victory. “Why did NC poll extra votes for candidate number three? They didn’t need to. They polled 31 votes when 28 or 29 would have been enough since the BJP was contesting for seat four,” he said.

The People’s Conference leader alleged that cross-voting and invalid ballots hinted at deliberate coordination between legislators of both parties. He called for a detailed probe into the entire electoral process to ensure transparency and accountability. “This kind of hand-in-glove conduct cannot go unquestioned. The people deserve to know the truth behind what happened in this election,” he said.
