Actor Sudhir Dalvi, Known for Portraying Sai Baba, Hospitalised in Critical Condition, Riddhima Kapoor Offers Financial Aid, Hits Back at Trolls

The 86 year old actor, best known for his iconic role in Shirdi Ke Sai Baba (1977), is battling life threatening complications at Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital as medical bills mount; Ranbir Kapoor’s sister Riddhima Kapoor Sahni steps in to support the family.

Mumbai, Oct 30 : Veteran actor Sudhir Dalvi, celebrated for his portrayal of Sai Baba in the 1977 classic Shirdi Ke Sai Baba, has been hospitalised in Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital after developing life-threatening complications caused by sepsis, according to a report by India Today. The 86 year old actor has been undergoing treatment since the first week of October.

Dalvi’s family revealed that they have already spent nearly ₹10 lakh on his treatment, and the medical expenses are expected to reach ₹15 lakh as his recovery remains slow. His wife, Suhas Dalvi, shared that the actor experienced excruciating pain and loss of mobility on October 8, prompting his immediate admission to the ICU.

“It was diagnosed as a sepsis infection affecting all his joints. Since the infection entered his bloodstream, recovery has been extremely slow,” Suhas said, adding that the situation has been both emotionally and financially draining.

She further appealed for assistance from well wishers and the film fraternity, saying, “We are like any middle class family with limited savings. Unlike government employees, actors don’t receive pensions. We would be grateful for any help that comes our way.”

Amid growing concern, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, daughter of late actor Rishi Kapoor and sister of Ranbir Kapoor, came forward to offer financial support. She confirmed her contribution under an Instagram post and wished Dalvi a speedy recovery.

However, when a troll accused her of seeking publicity, Riddhima responded firmly:

“Everything in life is not about optics. Helping someone in need in whatever capacity you can is the biggest blessing.”
