Rahul Gandhi Accuses PM Modi of ‘Chunav Chori’ in Sharp Political Attack
Congress leader alleges manipulation in multiple state elections, vows to show India’s youth that PM Modi became Prime Minister through electoral fraud.
New Delhi, Nov 7 : In a strong attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP, Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Friday alleged large scale electoral manipulation, claiming that the ruling party came to power through what he termed as “chunav chori” (election theft).
Addressing the media, Gandhi said he would prove to India’s Gen Z and youth that PM Modi’s rise was the result of rigged elections.
“We have a lot of material, and we will continue this process. We will show India’s youth that Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister through ‘chunav chori’ and that the BJP systematically engages in it,” he asserted.
Referring to alleged irregularities during the Haryana Assembly polls, Gandhi described the elections as a “wholesale chori.”
“I presented how the Haryana elections were not elections at all. There was no response from the Election Commission to my allegations fake votes, fake photos, and duplicate voters. BJP is defending this but not denying it,” he said, citing reports of a Brazilian woman’s photo being used for voting.
The Congress leader further accused the Election Commission, Prime Minister Modi, and Union Home Minister Amit Shah of jointly “attacking the Constitution.”
“The Constitution guarantees ‘one man, one vote’. In Haryana, it became ‘one man, multiple votes’. They will do the same in Bihar, just as it happened in MP, Chhattisgarh, and Gujarat,” Gandhi claimed.
Meanwhile, the first phase of the Bihar Assembly elections concluded peacefully on Thursday with a record voter turnout of 64.66 percent, the highest in the state’s history. Voting took place across 121 seats in 18 districts.
The second phase of polling will be held on November 11, with results to be declared on November 14. While the ruling NDA comprising BJP, JD(U), HAMS, and LJP (RV) seeks another term, the Mahagathbandhan alliance of Congress, RJD, and Left parties aims to return to power. The Jan Suraaj Party, contesting over 200 seats, has also entered the fray this time.
